What we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the control you have over your data.

Who is responsible for your data

ReadySFX, operated from Manitoba, Canada, is responsible for the personal information described here. For any privacy question or request, contact our privacy contact at readysfx@gmail.com.

What we collect

  • •Account: your email address, display name, and password (stored securely by our sign-in provider — we can't read it). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google.
  • •Profile: anything you add, such as a handle, avatar, banner, bio and specialties.
  • •Purchases: what you bought, prices, dates, and a payment reference. Card details go straight to Stripe and never reach us. If you ask for a refund, we keep your reason, what you wrote and our answer; if a sound is refunded, the creator is told which sound and why, but never who you are.
  • •Your library and activity on ReadySFX: downloads, favorites, cart, follows, reviews, reports and notifications, and your notification settings (what dings and what is emailed to you).
  • •License Certificates: every sound you buy has a License ID. Anyone you give that ID or the certificate link to can see the sound, the license type, the purchase date, whether it is still valid and your display name — never your email or payment details.
  • •Searches: the words searched for on ReadySFX and how many sounds were found, kept anonymously for up to 180 days. They are not linked to you or your account; creators only see totals (for example, how many visitors searched for "laser reload"), so they know what buyers are looking for. To count each visitor only once a day, we turn your network address and the date into a scrambled code that can't be turned back into the address; the address itself isn't stored.
  • •Creators: your creator application (including sample files), the sounds and packs you upload with their details, any music you upload for pack trailers (with when you confirmed you have the rights to it), your upload preferences (which automatic upload helpers you have switched on), your PayPal payout email, earnings and payout records. To protect payouts we also note your account email and when it last changed: the payout email can only be changed once the account email is confirmed and has not changed for 7 days, and the previous payout email is told about a change.
  • •Custom requests: request details, reference files you attach (such as video clips, example sounds or images), messages, delivered files and ratings between you and the other party. Only the two of you can see them, plus ReadySFX staff when it's needed to handle a dispute, a report or a support request you make, to check for fraud or abuse, or when the law requires it. We don't read messages otherwise, and each time staff open an order's messages the reason is recorded. Staff can only open an order's files for a short time after opening its messages that way, and only with two-factor login.
  • •To keep orders and payments on ReadySFX, contact and payment details (emails, phone numbers, links, social media or messaging usernames, payment usernames) are hidden automatically when requests, messages, offers, delivery notes, reviews and profile bios are saved. We keep a record that something was hidden and what kind it was (for example "phone number"), but not the hidden text, to spot repeated attempts.
  • •Security: two-factor login settings, and the technical logs (such as IP address and browser) that our hosting providers keep to run and protect the site.
  • •Legal records: which version of our terms you accepted and when, and any privacy requests you make.

What stays on your own device

Some things are kept only in your browser, never sent to us: your sign-in session, a guest cart, and uploads you haven't finished (so they survive a page refresh). When you upload a sound, it is analysed on your own device to suggest a name, category, tags and a description (compared with sounds already published and your own earlier sounds); the sound itself is only sent to us when you publish it. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies, and we don't track you across other websites. Our Cookie Policy lists everything the site stores in your browser.

Why we use it

  • •To run your account, deliver what you buy, and keep your library available.
  • •To process payments, refunds and creator payouts, and keep the financial records the law requires. Some refund requests and some sound updates from Trusted Creators are approved automatically using clear rules (described in our Refund Policy and Creator Agreement). Nothing is declined automatically — a person reviews everything else.
  • •To review uploads (including automatic checks for duplicates and audio problems) and to handle reports and copyright complaints.
  • •To send you security notices and the notifications you choose — bundled into one summary email a day at most (on very busy days it may come a day or more later; everything is always in your bell). Payment and refund receipts are emailed by our payment processor, Stripe, and every receipt can be viewed and printed any time in Account → Purchases.
  • •Only if you sign up for it (Settings → Notifications, or the box in the footer): a weekly “New on ReadySFX” email with new sounds and packs. Every one has a one-click unsubscribe link that works without signing in, and you can turn it off in Settings any time.
  • •To keep ReadySFX secure and prevent fraud and abuse.

Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information, and we don't share your listening history with creators. We share it only with the service providers that run ReadySFX, and only what they need:

  • •Lovable Cloud (built on Supabase) — our database, sign-in and file storage.
  • •Vercel — hosts the website.
  • •Stripe — processes payments.
  • •PayPal — sends creator payouts.
  • •Resend — sends our emails.
  • •Sentry — tells us when a page crashes in your browser: the page, browser and device type, and what went wrong. We set it up to send no names, email addresses, IP addresses or cookies, and no recording of your screen.
  • •Microsoft OneDrive — keeps ReadySFX's private backup copies.
  • •Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google.

When you buy a custom sound, you and the creator see each other's display name and the messages in that request. Your public profile, published sounds and reviews are visible to everyone. A rating and review you leave for a custom request is shown on the creator's profile as from a "Verified customer", without your name. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety or our rights, or to a company that takes over ReadySFX.

Where it's stored

Our providers may store and process your information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law. We choose providers that protect it with appropriate safeguards.

How long we keep it

  • •Custom order files (deliveries, attachments and reference files) are deleted 30 days after the order closes, and reference files of a request that is declined or cancelled before payment are deleted after 7 days. Files in an order under dispute are kept until the dispute is resolved. The order's messages and records stay with your account. Sample files from a creator application are deleted 30 days after the application is approved or declined.
  • •We keep your information while your account is open. After you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, except records we must keep by law — such as purchase, payout and tax records, which Canadian law requires us to keep for six years — and our record of which terms you accepted, which we keep for as long as a claim could arise.
  • •We keep private backup copies of the site's database and stored files so we can restore ReadySFX after an outage or move it to another provider. Only ReadySFX's administrators can open them. Anything deleted from the site is removed from the backups within 90 days.

Your rights and choices

  • •Download a copy of your data at any time: Account → Settings → Your data → Download my data.
  • •Delete your account: Account → Settings → Your data → Delete my account. We'll complete it within 30 days.
  • •Correct your information in your account settings, or ask us at readysfx@gmail.com.
  • •Creators can choose which notification emails they get. Security and custom-request emails are always sent; payment receipts come from Stripe.
  • •Withdraw your consent to anything optional at any time.

We answer privacy requests within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, the UK, or California), you may have additional rights, and you can use them the same way. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or to your local data protection authority.

Security

Your information is encrypted in transit, access to it is restricted by strict permissions, the original files of paid sounds are only available to their buyers, their creator and our review team, and you can protect your account with two-factor login. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach ever put your information at real risk, we'd notify you and the authorities as the law requires.

Children

ReadySFX isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. Users under 18 need a parent's or guardian's permission. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we'll update the date and version above, and tell you about material changes by email or on the site. See also our Terms of Service.
