Copyright & DMCA Policy

We respect creators' rights — including yours. Here's how to report a sound that infringes your copyright, and how a creator can respond.

Where to send a notice

Copyright Agent, ReadySFX — readysfx@gmail.com, subject line "Copyright notice". You can also use the report button on any sound for anything else that breaks our rules.

What your notice must include

To be valid under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), a notice must include:

  • •Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full legal name works).
  • •The copyrighted work you believe was infringed.
  • •The sound on ReadySFX you believe infringes it, with its link.
  • •Your name, mailing address, phone number and email.
  • •A statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
  • •A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you're the copyright owner or authorised to act for them.

We accept notices from anywhere in the world. Notices missing these details may take longer to act on.

What happens next

When we receive a valid notice, we promptly hide the sound from the store and send the creator who published it a copy of the notice. Hiding isn't deleting: the sound stays in the creator's account while the matter is resolved. We may hold the creator's earnings from that sound, and we refund buyers where our Refund Policy says so.

Sounds on ReadySFX are published by independent creators, who are solely responsible for them. ReadySFX doesn't decide who owns a sound: a copyright dispute is between the person who sent the notice and the creator.

We also forward notices sent under the notice-and-notice rules of Canada's Copyright Act to the creator, and keep the records that law requires.

Counter-notices (for creators)

If you believe your sound was removed by mistake or misidentified, send us a counter-notice with:

  • •Your physical or electronic signature.
  • •The sound that was removed and where it appeared before removal.
  • •A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification.
  • •Your name, address and phone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your address (or, if you're outside the US, any court where ReadySFX may be found), and that you'll accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice.

We forward valid counter-notices to the person who sent the original notice. Unless they tell us within 10–14 business days that they've filed a court action, we may restore the sound.

False claims

Knowingly misrepresenting that something infringes, or that it was removed by mistake, can make you liable for damages, including costs and legal fees.

Repeat infringers

We close the accounts of creators who repeatedly upload infringing sounds. Creators confirm they own every sound they upload and are responsible for it under the Creator Agreement.
