Questions creators ask
+Is this a sound effects job?
It isn't a salaried job — you're an independent creator. You earn from every sale of your sound effects and from paid custom sound requests (freelance sound design work for customers), on your own schedule. There are no fees to apply or sell.
+How much do SFX creators earn?
You receive 65% of each sale, rising to 70% once your lifetime net earnings pass US$500 and 75% past US$2,000. On custom requests you keep 75% of the agreed price (80% as a Trusted Creator). What you earn depends on your sounds and how often they sell — there's no guaranteed income.
+How do I get paid?
Monthly by PayPal, usually around the 15th for the previous month, once your balance reaches US$25.
+Do I keep the rights to my sounds?
Yes. You keep ownership. ReadySFX gets a non-exclusive licence to host and sell them, so you can sell your sounds elsewhere too (unless you agree to an exclusive buyout for a custom request).
+Who can apply, and what do I need?
Anyone 18 or older who makes original sound effects — sound designers, game audio people, foley artists and hobbyists. You apply with a little about your experience and some sample work; our team reviews applications within a few days.
+How do I price my sounds?
You choose: free, or anything from US$2 to US$500 per sound. You can also bundle sounds into packs at a discount.
The full terms are in the Creator Agreement.
